If there is one immutable truth in all branding it is this: It is impossible to physically make someone buy your product. At least, not without a large stick and breaking a dozen or so laws. But if you can’t make them buy, then what’s the point of building a brand in the first place? Simple. To make people care. The value the purpose, the magic of any brand lies in its ability to connect with the people(students). To rediscover the minds. To make then Learn, Absorb, Think, React, Interact, Feel, Acquire. We are future of the India....... By Komal Smith  posted On: Dec 4,2008
One of the reasons that India witnesses so many Terrorist attacks is that we don’t have a central organization tasked with preventing terrorist attacks. Only a Central Anti Terrorist agency on the lines of CBI filled with competent persons free of political pressures can perform this duty. In India we completely lack such an organization. Preventing terrorist attacks is a very long drawn out process. It can’t be solved in one day or one month or even one year for that matter. It involves detailed Intelligence gathering and meticulously working upon the leads that are found eventually. And there should be no political intervention of any kind in their functioning. Political parties should not be allowed to impede a fair investigation at any cost. Both the two major political parties in India are more concerned with vote banks and electoral prospects then preventing terror attacks.

Terrorist attacks happen with regularity in India and they will keep on happening unless and until the citizens of our country become more aware of the reality and start putting pressure on their elected representatives to do something concrete to prevent such an occurrence again in the near future. Otherwise we can again wait for another terrorist attack to happen yet again.

Salt is a mineral. Chemically, it is known as sodium chloride (NaCl), the combination of one sodium ion and one chloride ion. Salt is 40% sodium and 60% chloride by weight.

Salt enhances the flavor of food, preserves food, helps to regulate and control normal body functions, and acts as a building block for more complex chemicals.

Salt is primarily found underground in rock form or dissolved in the world's oceans and some lakes. Salt is also found on the surface of ancient evaporated seabeds like the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah and in Death Valley National Park in California.

How to deal with school stress (especially during exams!): By Jaimine Shah  posted On: Nov 23,2008
1 Increase your strength
2 Pace yourself. Pick a level and mode of work that keeps you busy but does not overwhelm you.
3 Take breaks and let the anxiety levels drop off again. Taking breaks, both big and little, from stress-inducing work routines allows the body to return to a normal, less anxious resting state.
4 Keep your goals in mind. Keep your eye on the finish line. Know where you want to be going and it will help you get there. If you have no idea why you're here or where you're going, take some time to re-focus and think about what you want to be getting from the work you're doing.
5 Encourage yourself. Self-criticism is a bad habit that slows you down and doesn't help the quality of your work. Speak to yourself the way you would speak to a friend or relative struggling through something difficult.
6 Know what your tasks are. It's awfully difficult to maintain focus and reduce anxiety if your you do not know what you need to accomplish and what your deadlines are. Know your "enemy" (tasks, workload) and you'll feel far less overwhelmed and anxiety will decrease.
7 Be good to yourself. Eat as well as you can, get an ample amount of sleep, exercise and skip the alcohol and drugs (caffeine included!) while you are running your marathon. Your body is the machine that gets you through school: be good to it.
8 Enjoy the ride. You're not in school (or life) to suffer. If the journey's painful, something's wrong.
9 Be realistic (make the course a little easier) Lower your expectations. If everything HAS to be an A+, the course is very steep and that much harder. If you lower expectations of yourself, stress and anxiety will be lowered as well, and, because you're relaxed, you may even find that you can run a better "race"!
10 Share your stress. Although sometimes it might not feel this way, the university is designed to help you. Share your stress with profs, tutors, RLCs, dons, Student Services staff. Don't be afraid to ask for help - people will be glad to come to your assistance. Reduce the workload by negotiating ("can I do this after I'm done exams?") and saying "no" ("I'd love to, but I just can't right now. Ask me next term").

Nuclear Power By Samina  posted On: Nov 11,2008
Hello!! I am a Principal in Chandigarh Public School,
As a layman it is difficult to say whether Nuclear agreement is bad or good for India. Therefore I have tried to look at both sides. I believe India has great potential in tapping energy form the renewable sources like biomass, water and wind. We should look at meeting our energy needs from this renewable sources more rigorously.

But considering the current energy shortage and the fact that India has very rich Thorium reserves, Nuclear energy does seem very attractive. It will be cheaper and more efficient at the same time. But then again, the US has been using nuclear technilogy for years now. But still there is a furious debate on how to manage the nuclear waste.

Teaching your child self control By Sweety  posted On: Nov 8,2008
Tantrums and outbursts from kids with no self-control can rile even the most patient parents.

Whether kids melt down in the middle of a crowded grocery store, at a holiday dinner with extended family, or at home, these fits can be extremely frustrating. But parents can help kids learn self-control and teach them how to respond to situations without just acting on impulse.

Helping Kids Learn Self-Control
By learning self-control, kids can make appropriate decisions and respond to stressful situations in ways that can yield positive outcomes.

For example, if you say that you're not serving ice cream until after dinner, your child may cry, plead, or even scream in the hopes that you will give in. But with self-control, your child can understand that a temper tantrum means you'll take away the ice cream for good and that it's wiser to wait patiently.

Here are a few suggestions on how to help kids learn to control their behavior:

Up to age 2: Infants and toddlers get frustrated by the large gap between the things they want to do and what they're able to do. They often respond with temper tantrums. Try to prevent outbursts by distracting your little one with toys or other activities. For kids reaching the 2-year-old mark, try a brief timeout in a designated area — like a kitchen chair or bottom stair — to show the consequences for outbursts and teach that it's better to take some time alone instead of throwing a tantrum.
Ages 3 to 5: You can continue to use timeouts, but rather than enforcing a specific time limit, end timeouts once your child has calmed down. This helps kids improve their sense of self-control. And praise your child for not losing control in frustrating or difficult situations.
Ages 6 to 9: As kids enter school, they're better able to understand the idea of consequences and that they can choose good or bad behavior. It may help your child to imagine a stop sign that must be obeyed and think about a situation before responding. Encourage your child to walk away from a frustrating situation for a few minutes to cool off instead of having an outburst.
Ages 10 to 12: Older kids usually better understand their feelings. Encourage them to think about what's causing them to lose control and then analyze it. Explain that sometimes the situations that are upsetting at first don't end up being so awful. Urge kids to take time to think before responding to a situation.
Ages 13 to 17: By now kids should be able to control most of their actions. But remind teens to think about long-term consequences. Urge them to pause to evaluate upsetting situations before responding and talk through problems rather than losing control, slamming doors, or yelling. If necessary, discipline your teen by taking away certain privileges to reinforce the message that self-control is an important skill.
When Kids Are Out of Control
Set a good example for your kids by demonstrating healthy ways to react to stressful situations. As difficult as it may be, resist the urge to yell when you're disciplining your child. Instead, try to be firm and matter of fact.

During your child's meltdown, stay calm and explain that yelling, throwing a tantrum, and slamming doors are unacceptable behaviors that have consequences — and say what those consequences are.

Your actions can show that tantrums aren't viable ways for kids to get the upper hand. For example, if your child gets upset in the grocery store after you've explained why you won't buy candy, don't give in — thus demonstrating that the tantrum was both unacceptable and ineffective.

If your child frequently loses control and is continually argumentative, antisocial, or impulsive or if tantrums last for more than 10 minutes, talk to your child's doctor. And talk to the doctor if your school-age child's tantrums are accompanied by:

restlessness
impulsiveness
defiance
difficulty in concentrating
low self-esteem
declining performance in school

Consider speaking to your child's teachers about classroom settings and appropriate behavioral expectations. Also, look at your own actions to see if you are managing stressful situations as well as you can. If not, you might want to ask your doctor about whether family counseling sessions may help

Yes Cancer can be cured By samrat  posted On: Nov 7,2008
We ask and discuss this issue whether cancer is curable or not many times. A simple answer to this question is YES. Yes, cancer is curable for some. Unfortunately for some it has cost them life. More than 80% of cancers today are completely curable if treated early. People who have been successfully treated for cancer and it doesn’t recur for a period of next the next five years the chances of it appearing are very rare. A patient should get himself examined half-yearly under all conditions.

For a cancer to be curable there are three factors. Type of cancer that a patient has, the stage of cancer and how well does the patient finally respond to the kind of treatment that is decided for him/her. A belief that vaccine can cure cancer is a myth. Vaccine can hel against a disease caused by a germ and since cancer is not caused by a germ, vaccine is not helpful.

If the disease in question is diagnosed early, there are more chances of a person’s survival. If it’s a tumor in breast or bowel there are more chances of a person’s survival by way to operating and removing that part of the body. But if it’s not a tumor restricted to one place and has spread to other parts also then by way of chemotherapy the cancer cells are destroyed. There are some types of cancers, which are curable even after they have spread like, Childhood Acute lymphoid leukemia, (All types), Hodgkin’s disease, Large cell lymphoma, APL Testicular cancer, Choriocarcinoma Cancer by itself is not one single disease. There are many, say more than a hundred different types of cancer and all of them have a different type of cure.

I checked out this site because I got invitation from my friends. But since then I am sending invitation to all my friends. It’s a boon to have such educational platform. I like the site, especially downloadable synopsis. Illustration and simulations are also helpful and interesting sections.

Why learn? Add Your Comment
By adi.meh  posted On: Aug 08,2008
In the spate of my recent discoveries through comminucation, i have been trying to undertstand what learning is, and why should we learn?
One recurring theme is that learning is not what happens by rote. Learning and internalising share an inseparable relationship. Why should we learn? to build a future, to do well in exams, but most importantly, to free our minds from the boundaries of what is conventional.
so, open up!
wishing you all the luck on your journey of self discovery
